Love Fish?
So do we! At Milford Fish Docks we have a long, rich history with the fishing industry and are committed to improving our facilities for the future. Fishing is not only important to the local economy in terms of jobs, but is a great way to enjoy a healthy, sustainable food source.
We need you, the consumer, to keep buying and enjoying locally sourced fish. Ask at your local fishmonger or supermarket for Welsh fish (or even from the UK). You could even ask where your fish was landed - here at Milford Fish Docks around 3,000 tonnes is landed every year.
By asking for Welsh fish you can create a demand which helps to support the fishing industry and the UK jobs it generates. It also helps to ensure that the journey to your plate is as short as possible. After all, the fresher the fish, the better the taste.
Make Fish Your Dish
Fish is a great option. There are many varieties to choose between with a wide range of flavours and textures - so there's something for everyone. It's a really healthy choice with plenty of nutrients - experts recommend at least 2 portions per week (1 of which should be oily such as mackerel, salmon or fresh tuna). And it's not as expensive as you might think.
In order to get really fresh fish and great prices we recommend seeking out your local fishmonger. As well as recommending a particular type of fish (some are more readily available than others depending on the season), they can also help with ideas for recipes and prepare the fish for use. If you ask nicely they may even show you how to do it yourself.
